I am happy to recommend Rick Fleischman as a Master Skipper, trip leader, Alaskan maritime guide, salmon and halibut fishing guide, and an excellent chef.  I have traveled extensively for business and pleasure in my careers as a coastal geologist, environmental attorney, and airline pilot. I am also a member of the Explorers Club. I can think of no more pleasurable experience than 10 summer days sailing in Alaska with Rick.

Last July, my family of two college students, my wife and I chartered a 10-day trip with Rick Fleischman. Words cannot adequately describe the adventure, excitement, pleasure and fun that we experienced--it was the most fantastic trip we have ever made, individually or collectively. Rick is the consummate charter captain, entertainer, chef, guide and fish cleaner. There was not a dull moment. Since our trip, a week has not gone by without all of us thinking about our trip. This is a strong and heartfelt letter of recommendation for Rick Fleischman - a superb skipper, host and guide. Rick's sailing expertise is unsurpassed in my estimation (I'm a retired naval officer). His knowledge of the water in which he sails and attention to the safety of his crew/passengers is complete. He seems to know where every salmon, halibut, crab and clam lives. We had fresh fish every day and plenty of it! Rick is also a gourmet cook: fish, apple pie, sourdough bread, ice cream, you name it! In short, if you have not yet cruised with Rick you have missed a wonderful opportunity and should do so as soon as possible.

The trip was beyond my wildest expectations. To use a much overused word, but in this case most appropriate: AWESOME! Every day was special in a different way. Viewing wildlife, especially the whales, was so exciting, and I so appreciated your respect for everyone's habitat. I was sure the glacier calving was going to get us. Your rule to not allow anyone to leave Baranof without going in the hot springs should be strictly enforced. I can't imagine the food being any better. My favorite part? Perhaps watching you cook, steer the boat, answer all our boring questions, and help those Yehoos fish--all at once. You'd make a great Mom!
